The Science Fair in elementary school is often the first real contact students have with science and technology. By learning more about a topic they are passionate about, elementary school students acquire new knowledge and always impress visitors with the quality of their presentations and their spontaneity. More and more teachers are integrating the Science Fair into their class projects. This activity helps them to touch on several essential topics contained in the Programme de formation de l'école québécoise and to encourage their students to develop disciplinary and transferable skills. In addition to all the teaching benefits of the Science Fair in elementary school, it is an enriching, fun and unforgettable experience! The Science Fair in elementary schoolA Science Fair project is a science or technology project presented to the public and created alone or with a partner. It can first be presented in class, in front of the whole school or even at the Regional Final of the CDLS-CLS Network. During the Science Fair Regional Finals, the elementary school projects from Grades 1 to 6 are in the Juvenile category. Please note that students in the Juvenile category cannot participate in the Super Expo-sciences Bell, Québec Final or at the higher levels of the competition (the Canada-Wide Science Fair and International Science Fair). Coaching students with their Science Fair projectsElementary school teachers may consult a specially designed preparation guide for advice on how to coach students with their projects: L'xyz de l'Expo-sciences au primaire. The website also contains a wealth of information about participating in a Science Fair in the How do I participate? section. Some practical tools are also offered to help you in your work with the students.
