How do I participate?

So, you have decided that your class will participate in the Science Fair, but you are wondering how to tackle this science challenge.

Starting point

First, find out what steps you need to take to complete the various types of projects and read the information (in French only) regarding the Experimentation, Design or Study categories. This information, which is taken from the L'xyz de l'Expo-sciences au primaire guide, will help you guide your students with their Science Fair projects on a step-by-step basis (available in French only).

Then read the rules carefully before starting a project.

Need more help or some tools ? Visit our Practical Tools section, where you will found a checklist and videos to be ready in time to enter the Science Fair.

Schedule

L'xyz de l'Expo-sciences au primaire proposes a schedule (in French only) that enables teachers to identify all the steps involved in doing a Science Fair project, in order to be able to integrate them adequately into the school calendar.

Additional information
The website is your ideal Science Fair reference. It will provide information on the categories and types of projects, their classification and it also offers good project ideas.

Integrate the Science Fair in various ways:

In the classroom
  • The teams present the results of their work to the other students in the class.
At school
  • Students in other classes are invited to attend the exhibitors' presentations.
  • A Local Science Fair can be the ideal opportunity to present all of the school's projects to other students, staff and parents. When there are a lot of projects, a Local Final is also the ideal tool for choosing the projects that will be presented in the Regional Final - Elementary School.
Regional Final - Elementary School
The registration dates and the number of projects presented in the Juvenile section of the Regional Finals vary from one place to another. For information regarding the terms of participation for the elementary school section in your region, contact the CLS nearest you.
